USIL successfully presented the new career in Physical Activity and Sports Science

USIL, a driving force for sports development in the country, successfully presented the new career in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, in the framework of the panel "Positioning Peruvian sports professionals on the world radar, a joint work" held at the Hyatt Centric hotel.

The protagonists of the debate were Jean Ferrari, national director of Recreation and Sports Promotion of Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD); Alberto Tejada, San Borja district Mayor; Benjamín Romero, Marketing Manager of Alianza Lima soccer team; and Maitte Torres, a high-performance athlete from USIL.

"It is important that we create a sports culture that is not only about competition, but also recreation, physical activity, and health," said Tejada.

Mr. Romero explained that, with this new career, USIL will bring more formality into sports and generate confidence with the work of ethically trained professionals, “so that people, government entities and private entities can see that the sports industry is serious and professional, thus increasing investments".

The launch was attended by authorities of USIL, the national sports sector, the sports press, and recognized qualified athletes such as Kevin Martínez, the first student in the Physical Fitness and Sports Sciences programs, among others. Kevin Ramírez will compete the Pan-American Games in the fronton discipline.


About the program
The Physical Activity and Sports Sciences program seeks to professionalize this discipline in our country in these four mentions: Sports Management, focused on the management of both public and private sports institutions; Sports Massification, aimed to promote sports and to identify and promote athletic talent; Didactic and Sports Planning, which seeks improvements in athletes' athletic performance; and Physical Activities for Health, focused on training experts in prescribing physical exercises as a means of preventing diseases and / or improving health and physical condition.

In addition, this program has important national and international agreements, by which students can undertake internships abroad. Some of the agreements are with LaLiga de España, the Spanish Sports Association, the Peruvian Olympic Committee and the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), among others.

Our students will also have at their disposal first level biomechanics and sports physiology laboratories and facilities including stadium, a football field and a gym. This is with the purpose of holding sports competitions in environments with professional rigor which guarantees the students’ integral development.
